RECRUITERS ON CAMPUS TODAY

Coaches from Oregon State University and Weber State University in Utah both visited SOUTHWESTERN COLLEGE today to check in and ask for our Sophomore list. The offensive coordinator from Weber State will be back on campus Tuesday afternoon to watch our spring class.

The coaches from Texas A & M and Arizona State were here this past week. Good job in the weight room today by TEVITA FEHOKO (CHULA VISTA HS) and MARCUS LOVE (MT. MIGUEL HS).

APRIL COACHES CORNER

Overall we are moving forward. The guys that attend consistently in the weight room have really improved a lot. We have had a pretty good commitment from a solid core. Strength wise, our best lift has been the clean. On the field, the offensive passing game has come along the fastest. We don't get much running game in with the lack of pads.

"TURN OVER THURSDAY" this week we had an interception for a TD by CHRIS SIDDENS (OTAY RANCH HS).

THE TOP LIFTERS OF THE SEMESTER HAVE BEEN:
FEBRUARY: ALBERT NOVELOSO - SLOT RECEIVER - HILLTOP HIGH SCHOOL
MARCH: CARLOS LIZARAGA - LB - IMPERIAL HIGH SCHOOL
APRIL: TEVITA FEHOKO - LB - CHULA VISTA HIGH SCHOOL

Players that had a great April both in the weight room and on the field:
MARCUS LOVE - OL - MT. MIGUEL HIGH SCHOOL set the Hang Clean mark for the spring with a llift of 290 lbs. Excellent day in and day out work ethic.
KEVIN PIKE - SLOT RECEIVER - HILLTOP HIGH SCHOOL. Top notch route runner that is just hitting his stride in the wieght room. Kevin has a great understanding of the passing game and where he fits in each pattern.
MIKE PAGE - SLOT RECEIVR - PALOMA VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL / MT. SAN JACINTO COLLEGE. Mike has done a great job on the field and has really improved his route running.
CARLOS LIZARAGA - LB - IMPERIAL HIGH SCHOOL
CHRIS SIDDENS - DB - OTAY LAKES HIGH SCHOOL
ANTHONY LATTIN - WIDE RECEIVER - CHULA VISTA HIGH SCHOOL
L.J. BROWN - DEFENSIVE END - FLORIDA... Big and fast. The summer should improve him.
This summer when the circuits begin…. We should start to grow as a team. Yesterday we had our best spring class of the semester. The defense ran to the ball for the first time and played better as a group.

We have three weeks remaining and then a break until summer football begins June 18th

COACH CARBERRY

The JAGUAR coaching staff traveled to UCLA for spring 2007 football practice today. Unfortunately, a rarely seen tradition of UCLA is "GOING OVER THE WALL". After stretching, the seniors brought the team together and told them that it was all for one and one for all. They broke off and ran for the nearest wall. The big guys went out the open gate while the athletic guys continued the tradition started by NFL Hall of Famer Troy Aikman of "going over the wall".

The staff met with former Northwestern Running Back coach John Wristen (responsible for recruiting MONTE VISTA MONARCH IAN MILLER to Northwestern). He is now coaching TE's and Special Teams for the Bruins. With practice off, we took former MONTE VISTA MONARCH JOSH EDWARDS, a Red Shirt Junior Will LB Josh was a team captain for the MONARCHS 2003 CIF Championship team.

This makes three colleges the JAGUAR staff has visited this spring. Three spring practices for San Diego State University including the Spring Clinic. We went to two spring practices at USC and then today's misadventure to UCLA.

Don't forget the spring clinic we are hosting May 9th for all area coaches, and the start of our SUMMER FOOTBALL PROGRAM JUNE 18.
