JAG'S SHOCK UNBEATEN ANTELOPE VALLEY 20-17. JAG'S WIN 3 OF THEIR LAST 4
The JAG'S took the field against 9-0 Antelope Valley College in the final game of the regular season. AVC had the number one ranked defense in the conference allowing only 8 points a game for 9 games the JAG offense put up 20 points on the night. They had done a great job all season of playing opportunistic offense and all out attack defense with man to man coverage.
We had several scoring opportunities in the first half and were turned away as we had to settle for 2 field goals from Foothill Conference leading kicker freshman MARCUS FLORES 6'0 175 lbs. (GROSSMONT H.S.). AVC came back to score and we ended the half down 7-6. We missed 4 of 6 field goals on the night keep the score tight. Freshman WR JOSH SIPHO 6' 0 175 lbs. (UNIVERSITY CITY H.S.) took a shallow crossing route 70 yards for a TD (his second big score in the last two games). FLORES kicked the extra point and were up 13-7.
With the back and forth of the game AVC scored after a long drive to make the score 14-13. We traded punts (FLORES kept them pinned inside the 20 yard line all night) and AVC drove down the field... we made a great goal line stand and forced a field goal and the score went to 17-13.
The JAG'S got turned away on a 4th and 1 and AVC started what they thought would be their game clinching drive. They once again took the ball all the way to the 2 yard line where the JAG defense once again stopped AVC's offense. With just under a minute to go in the game, AVC tried to score one last time. ILB ROBERT WILLIAMS 6'0 235 lbs. (OTAY RANCH H.S.) knocked the ball out of the RB's hands as he tried to jump over the top and DERRICK PERRAULT (HELIX H.S.) picked it up and took off running. He moved the ball out to the 30 yard line. So with 56 seconds to go and no timeouts, down by 4 the JAG'S started on a drive of their own. We went back to JOSH SIPHO (UNIVERSITY CITY H.S.) on the same crossing route from earlier in the game. Another big catch by freshman WR SHELDON GALLOWAY (CLAIREMONT H.S.) put us within striking distance. We went right to the fade route and AVC was called for pass interference in the end zone. The ball was placed on the 2 yard line with 25 seconds to go, no! time outs. QB DREW WESTLING (ALISON NIGUEL H.S. / UNIV. OF TULSA) 17 of 32 for 306 yards and a TD, called his own number and QB sneaked it in for the go ahead score.
The defense played a great game for the fourth week in a row. Sophomore DE TORY ROBINSON 6'5 280 lbs. (MT. MIGUEL H.S.) put constant pressure on
the AVC QB. Freshman corners DESMOND JACKSON 6'2 185 lbs. (HELIX H.S.) and TAELOR WORRELL 5'10 lbs. (EL CAPITAN H.S.) set the tempo for the night with big hits in the secondary.
The JAG'S finished the season at 3-6, but won 3 of the last 4 games including a final victory over the 9-0 Conference Champion AVC. We continued to improve weekly and dominated the final game of the season.

JAG'S WIN 17-7 OVER SAN BERNARDINO VALLEY COLLEGE
The JAG'S traveled up to San Bernardino for a 7:00 pm game against the Wolverines. SBVC had come off a wildfire loss to Chaffey College the previous week and were trying to get back on track for the last two games of the season. It was an over officiated game. We had at least 15 penalties... the majority on big plays. After a questionable penalty for intentional grounding, JAG QB DREW WESTLING (ALISO NIGUEL HS) connected on an 87 yard TD pass to freshman receiver JOSH SIPHO (UNIVERSITY CITY HS). WESTLING was 20 for 33 for 277 yards, and 2 TD's. Freshman RB KENSLOW SMITH (HELIX HS) exploded for 61 tough yards on 21 carries (60 yard TD run called back). SMITH, an explosive player with great blocking skills has been a primary force in the overall development of our offense.
Sophomore DE ALEX OUJI (BONITA VISTA HS) had the best game of his '07 season. He dominated his side of the LOS and pressured the QB. Sophomore ILB ROBERT WILLIAMS (OTAY RANCH HS) stepped up his game with 10 total tackles on the night. Two freshmen DB's continued their great start in college football, DERRICK PERRAULT (HELIX HS) and TAELOR WORRELL (EL CAPITAN HS) were forces against the run. PERRAULT had 11 total tackles and a pass defensed and WORRELL 8 total tackles with a pass defensed. Freshman DT MIKE JOHNSON (NEW SAMYRNA HS / FLORIDA) had his best game of the season recording 3 total tackles but was a force on the inside. SHAWN SHAW (OTAY RANCH HS) had 2 forced fumbles on the night.
Freshman punter / kicker MARCUS FLORES (GROSSMONT HS) dominated field position with 3 punts inside the 20 yard line and he kicked the clinching field goal with 2:00 minutes to go in the game.
The JAG'S have two remaining home games, this weekend against 9-0 Antelope Valley College and the following "Friday" November 16th for a makeup game against Mt. San Jacinto College.
