JAG'S TRAINING STAFF TO HOST FREE PHYSICALS THURSDAY JUNE 28 AT 3:00



THE JAG'S TRANING STAFF WILL HAVE 6 DOCTORS ON HAND THURSDAY JUNE 28 AT 3:00 FOR PHYSICALS AVAILABLE FOR ALL ATHLETES AT SOUTHWESTERN.

OUR TRAINING STAFF, LED BY HEAD TRAINER JIM HAMMOND (PICTURED IN THE MIDDLE) IS THE BEST IN COMMUNITY COLLEGE ATHLETICS. BELOW IS A SYNOPSIS OF "HAMBONE'S" COLORFUL CAREER:

Jim Hammond’s athletic contacts read like a who’s who in the San Diego sports world. “Bone”, as he is called by most that know him, has been associated with such coaching greats as Don Coryell, Sid Gillman, George Allen, Wayne Sevier and Joe Gibbs. He has worked with professional football people such as Don Klosterman, Gene Klein, Johnny Sanders and Tank Younger to name a few. Hammond’s real work has been with the athletes, like NFL Hall of Fame players Johnny Unitas, Dan Fouts, and Kellen Winslow, Sr. "Bone" has also had professional experiences with Muhammad Ali and several NFL Pro Bowls.
Hammond has served as a Head Trainer at both the college and professional football level. Included on the college list are The University of Hawaii and San Diego State University. The list of professional teams includes the NFL team San Diego Chargers and USFL teams LA Express, Arizona Wranglers and Chicago Blitz. As a San Diego Charger Trainer, Hammond was an instrumental part of what has been called the “Greatest NFL Game Ever Played”, an overtime game between the San Diego Chargers and the Miami Dolphins in 1982.

His affiliations include the The National Football League Trainers Society and George Allen’s Council for Physical Fitness and Sport. He is also registered with the American Athletic Trainers Association.

Jim attended Sweetwater High School and Southwestern College before moving on to San Diego State. Upon retiring from the professional football ranks in 1985, Jim returned home where he began serving the athletes at Southwestern College.
